Marketing (SEM),  Optimization (SEO),  Search Engine

SEO Then and Now

Over the years, since 1994 when I was an ISP, local guy in town providing Dial-up Internet Access and Telnet services for BBS (Bulletin Board Service) and Website Developments, nothing like today though.

But one thing has always been in common going back to when the World Wide Web was introduced in 1994, can my site be found and which search engines can you post it for me, in order for this to happen? Sound familiar?

SEO and SEM was so much more simple back then! In fact, some companies could automate the process, my company was no exception either, we made scripts that almost spammed the search engines on a daily basis.

Some search engines believe it or not, charged you, the consumer to create searches. Anywhere from $.10 cent to $.50 cents per search request that delivered results.. Sound Familiar?? I know, not quite the same today but has big similarities to it, no?

When you used to build meta tags; keywords and descriptions, that was the beginning of SEO, and then things started to change in around 1997, Search engines were wondering which way to go, how can they capitalize on the growth of the Internet Web, search engines started to buy out and/or merge with other search engines, business directories were being bought out, again my Business Directory was no exception either.

NOW: Some more history on the front for all to remember when SEO, SEM and the World Wide Web started its real change of venue: Google created in September 1996, by Google was founded in 1996 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University, in California. But they did not incorporate Google until September 1998; AOL buys Netscape in November 1998 and then AOL buys Time Warner in a Stock deal, for the most part!

My point here is content sells today for SEO services, and SEM services will tag that content and move it for their clients in order to market them better!!

Placing Keywords in your Meta Tags are long gone, so is submitting your website to multiple search engines, but what has not gone is the fact that good content, relevant content within your website are now the factors in which you can be found easier, that has become the standard normal SEO services.

These are services that Tucker Tek can offer and keep you up to speed on too, research, marketing and Internet content and relevant networks to place your advertising on.
